He began his military career as a Marine Corps Infantry officer and later became a CH-53D helicopter pilot and aircraft commander. He eventually transitioned into the Air Force Reserve as a C-5 Pilot, and filled numerous senior Air Force and Joint leadership positions, retiring at the rank of Colonel.
His military career included senior operational assignments supporting the United Nations, I MEF, Pacific Air Forces, U.S. Pacific Command, and CENTCOM supporting multiple joint military operations.
